Bonfires are a camp classic, but what if you could take your evening programming to the next level? Kids thrive on adventure, surprise, and connection—so let’s give them nighttime experiences they’ll be talking about long after camp ends!

Here are three creative ways to make your camp evenings even more magical:

ree

🌟 Glow-in-the-Dark Adventure Night – Transform your camp into a glowing wonderland! Use glow sticks, LED balloons, and blacklight face paint for activities like glow dodgeball, night hikes with glowing markers, or a “firefly” scavenger hunt.

💡 Example: One camp hosts a ‘Neon Capture the Flag’ where teams wear glow necklaces and navigate the dark for an epic showdown!

Glow Paddle Races – Outfit canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards with glow sticks and have a friendly nighttime race on the water.

Galactic Stargazing & Storytelling – Campers lay on blankets while a counselor tells mythical stories about constellations and space exploration.

Laser Maze Challenge – Use glow string or LED rope lights to create a “laser maze” that campers must navigate without touching the beams.

🎭 Mystery & Escape Night – Turn your camp into an interactive mystery game where campers solve riddles, follow clues, and complete challenges to “unlock” a camp secret.

💡 Example: A camp director created a ‘Lost Treasure Hunt’ where staff dressed as explorers, and campers used maps to find a hidden time capsule!

Who Stole the Camp Trophy? – A live-action detective game where campers question “suspects” (staff), analyze clues, and uncover the culprit.

Haunted Night Walk – A fun, slightly spooky trail walk with eerie sound effects, hidden surprises, and friendly “ghost” counselors sharing campfire legends.

Spy Mission Impossible – Campers are given secret missions and must decode hidden messages, crack safes, and retrieve an “artifact” before time runs out.

🎶 Silent Disco Under the Stars – Music is a great way to bring campers together, but what if you added a twist? With wireless headphones, each camper can tune into their favorite playlist while dancing under the night sky.

💡 Example: One camp added a ‘Choose Your Vibe’ station where kids could switch between pop, country, and classic camp songs for a silent dance battle!

Campfire Karaoke – Set up a simple outdoor stage and let campers belt out their favorite songs under the stars. Bonus: Judges give fun awards like “Most Dramatic Performance!”

Drum Circle & Glow Stomp – Give campers drums, buckets, or even glow-in-the-dark sticks to create a collaborative rhythmic performance.

80s, 90s, or Throwback Theme Night – Campers dress up and dance to hits from a chosen decade, with mini dance battles and best-dressed awards.
